Maui, 2022
Wednesday, Jan 26
We landed at OGG in the afternoon. That warm, humid air hit us the second we stepped off the plane. Such a good feeling.
Picked up our rental car, a convertible Camaro. Top down, we drove to our Airbnb at the Kealia Resort in Kihei, right on the beach. Dropped our bags and took a walk along the water.
Had dinner at the Kihei Surfside Resort at sunset. Beautiful sky, great way to kick off the trip.

Thursday
Started the morning with coffee. Roosters everywhere in the parking lot, pretty funny.
Found a great spot at D.T. Fleming Beach Park. The waves were crashing in. We just sat there watching them roll in for a while.

Drove north on Highway 30 from Lahaina, past Kapalua and all the way to Honolua Beach and beyond. The coastline up there is really pretty.

For dinner we headed back to Whalers Village. We called Peter as we looked across the way at the Louis Vuitton store. Walked around a bit, then caught another sunset from the beach at the Westin. Two for two on the sunsets.

Friday
Coffee at a nice spot to start the day.
Drove out to Ho'okipa Beach, then headed up to Haiku and the Ko'olau Forest Reserve. We took the famous road to Hana with its 600+ curves and 50 one-lane bridges. We hiked for a while, the forest was incredibly dense and green.

Got back to town after dark, so no sunset viewing tonight.

Saturday, Jan 29
Tried to grab breakfast at the Gazebo, which everyone raves about, but the line was ridiculous. We walked until we found another spot for something light.
Headed to Maalaea Harbor and boarded a boat for snorkeling and whale watching. February is prime time for humpbacks migrating through. We saw a few breaching and playing in the water. The snorkeling was great too, lots of fish and a turtle that swam right up to us accidently.
Pretty amazing day on the ocean.

Sunday
Sadly, this trip ends today, but not before we explored the north side of the island and saw some cool kite surfers. No hawaiian sunset today, but we had a great time!
